In escort interpreting, the interpreter acts as a “mediator” between two people by reproducing their statements in the other language. This requires an active command of the two languages in question in order to be able to interpret in both directions – from the source language to the target language and vice versa.

Escort interpreting is only suitable for very small groups (ideally two people). For larger groups, a second interpreter should be used or simultaneous or consecutive interpreting should be provided.
